c’était un rendez-vous

Eight minutes of uncut film from the perspective of an automobile being driven like a bat-out-of-hell through Paris. Director Claude LeLouche apparently filmed using a Mercedes 6.9.

Having owned one of these ‘70s super-cars, I can attest that: A) the 6.9 did not have a manual transmission; B) it only had three speeds; and C) its engine note sounds nothing like the one in the movie. Clearly, the sound was dubbed.

Nevertheless, the 6.9, possessing the body of a rhinoceros but the heart of a cheetah, was fully capable of reaching the speeds depicted. Its hydro-pneumatic suspension was also capable of achieving the incredibly smooth camera work seen in this short.
